Plugging Along

Most of the flowers are now in the ground and now it is a matter of keeping them watered so they survive! We don't have a lot of news to report this week except that we are planting and harvesting and hoping that the temperature doesn't dip down on us again. Cleveland weather is so unpredictable but I am thinking summer is here to stay.

Beets

Terry's best friend in the garden.

We won't have any more green garlic as we are going to leave the rest in the ground to turn into heads. It was new addition to the market this year and proved to be very successful. It made a delicious pesto that was amazing with crackers and on pizza that I made last week with our fresh arugula on top!

It looks like there is a chance of rain tomorrow but hopefully it will hold out and we will have a nice sunny morning for market tomorrow. Please come see us! We will be selling:

-tomato plants
-basil plants
-parsley
-cilantro
-green onions
-kale (tuscan & curly)
-swiss chard
-head lettuce (green & red)
-grape jelly

Beginnings

This is the time of year where my pictures have more brown than green in them, you can see each individual plant, and the dreaded weeds haven't begun their takeover. We are off to a good start this season besides losing some tomato plants to some sort of rot. We are slowly planting more and more outside and have a long season ahead of us but we are looking very forward to it!

At the market this Saturday, May 25th, we will be selling:

Tomato Plants
- Cherry: sungold, heirloom blend, large cherry, rainbow blend, rambling red stripe
- Regular: brandywine, beefsteak, rutgers, amish paste

Also:
- red and green head lettuce
- basil plants
- cilantro
- green onions
- green garlic
- spinach
- kale
- grape jelly

Flowers to be

New this year are some pumps out in the garden which will make watering a far less laborious task. Now we don't have to drag hoses from the house and can have multiple lines running without losing so much water pressure adding to our efficiency.

Dill

Rhubarb

Green head lettuce

Cilantro

After all of that brown and green, I leave you with a brilliant pop of color in the Azalea bush!
We hope to see you this weekend and Happy Memorial Day!

May Flowers & Opening Market!

I can't believe the market begins this Saturday already! The past week or so has been such a relief from this winter with all of the sunshine, green leaves, fresh cut grass, and blooming flowers. We hope we have a nice sunny day for the market.

This weekend we will be selling:

- tomato plants
- basil plants
- rhubarb
- green lettuce
- arugula
- green garlic (*new this year)
- grape jelly (*new this year)

We are excited to sell green garlic and we will have samples at our table as well as a recipe. It makes for a fantastic mild pesto that goes great on fresh bread or with a good cheese.  We are really looking forward to our 4th season at the market and can't wait to see all of you again soon!

Ada Jane, big enough to help out now!
